I guess all of the rain that scientists predicted for Southern California last year is hitting us this year! It has been raining cats and dogs and most of us are thrilled. We have been in such a terrible drought. It does make things tough with mudslides and road damage, but we need this precipitation more than ever. Hopefully, the mud damage won’t be too bad. Personally, I love running in the rain. There are only a few people out there, so having the road all to myself is heavenly. No barking dogs on long leashes, no one that I have to say “Good morning” to. Oh, my goodness that makes me sound like such a brat, but does anyone else just want to zone out and not have that peace and quiet interrupted by even the smallest disruption? I guess being the mom of three small children, I crave time all to myself. I am interrupted so many times during my day that my brain hurts. My run is the 40 minutes a day when I don’t want to have to think or do anything for anyone and even greeting someone can feel exhausting. So running in the rain is seriously my absolute favorite. I don’t care if it’s dumping buckets, I put the appropriate clothing on and get out there. I come home and take a hot shower, change into to some fluffy sweat pants, and finish my day with a smile on my face. Rainy days also make me want to clean out closets and do something creative. Whether it’s painting or some kind of DIY craft, I find the gray skies and the sound of the rain the perfect backdrop for creativity. While cleaning out my drawer that I keep all of my running fuel in, I had some old Nuun Hydration tubes. I went to throw them out, but the label peeled off so easy and the tube seemed so useful. Then it occurred to me that we are always digging around for quarters. My kids love the vending machine at the basketball courts and I use a parking meter when I shop at a certain store. Also, I just discover the store grocery store Aldi, and you need a quarter to get your shopping cart. Nuun Tubes are perfect for Meter Money, Paper clips, Cotton Swabs, Bobby pins, and even small items like lip balm. This DIY is so easy. All you do is peel off the label and use one of these Oil Based Paint Pens to draw a design on it.
