No matter where we are, my kids are moving… especially my boys. They remind me of little wolves, unable to stop their small legs from propelling forward. I remember saving my older son’s shoes for the younger one, but then one day he started to go through them like I go through coffee. Okay, maybe not that fast but I started noticing the soles of his shoes would be worn out in a month or two. “How can this happen?” “Does he drag his feet like a neanderthal?” I would ask. I watched them and, although their feet might not make it as far off the ground as an adult, I realized that my boys simply do not stop moving.
My children are active – from riding bikes, running, and playing sports we are family who plays together. Our weekends are full of activities. If we didn’t keep moving they’d go crazy, and so would their parents, so we keep them on the go.
This morning after my long run, which I could easily re-name my “log run” (my legs felt like logs, but that’s another story), I met my husband and the kids for breakfast, then off to soccer, and then to a local farm to pick up some produce. You’d think that soccer would wear out the wolves, but no such luck. When we arrived at the farm, once again the boys could not sit still. It can be exhausting, especially after my 4:30 am wake up call for my run this morning. Does anyone else feel this way with their boys?
Luckily there is always plenty to do at the farm. From trees, jumps, and open space they are free to explore and rouse around. The boys were super excited to try out their new Reebok Zig Big N Fast Ex’s that we were sent to try. What immediately struck me about these shoes is the super sized Zigtech Midsoles– my first thought was: “these shoes are going to last longer than a month or two!” Happy Parents! When the boys put them on, the first thing they both said was how much cushioning they had. Happy Kids!
After seeing them run around in them for the last week, one might think that these shoes give my boys even more energy. They even call them their “Boston Marathon shoes.” If they keep moving they way they do, they’ll have no problems getting there some day – this I am sure.
Some other features:
- TPU Propulsion Plate – channels energy at impact for lightweight, accelerated mid foot transition.
- Nanobreeze – Lightweight mesh upper provides superior breathability and comfort.
- Toe cap – for protection and durability.
As my children get more and more into running with me (on top of how active as they already are!), the more I want to make sure I am investing in high quality running shoes for durability and safety. We were super happy with these the boys love the name and the way they look – Zig Big N Fast EX – so cool. These shoes are available at FinishLine.
We considered the trip to the farm a huge success. We love going there. The wolves were happy jumping around and climbing trees, and the parents were happy to get some really fresh produce. We ended up getting Rutabaga (which I have never tried- please tell me what to do with it), Rainbow Chard, Apples, Carrots, Broccoli and Beets. When we got home I made the ugliest – yet best tasting – smoothie, which proved to me that looks are not everything. I love local farm produce, it tastes vastly different then the grocery store variety, don’t you think?
