A few years ago, I watched the movie Outsourced and there was scene in the movie where an American guy working in India heads out to work one day only to be blindsided by the Holi Festival, a national holiday celebrating color. The meaning behind Holi has changed over the years, and the festivities have taken place many centuries. It is a time to stop and unleash your inner child. All people celebrate from the young to the old. When I saw this scene, I thought “I have to go to India during Holi” It seems like pure joy, laughter, and fun.
So why am I telling you this? Recently I stubbled upon this race series called Color me Rad 5K.
They have events all over the country through the end of the year. I stopped and looked because it was so reminisant of the Holi festival in India.
You might be thinking “Here we go another kichty race.” Although I have never actually run one myself, I think this event would be so much fun with a friend or a group. I will be running the San Diego race this August 11, 2012. I am looking forward to a race that I can relax and enjoy without having to think about time…that is first for me! This is not the type of race you will be trying to set a new PR, or even take seriously, it was designed to entertain! We all are so stressed out with the pressure of modern life. What we need is more fun and play, and this race series promises to deliver that very thing. It’s getting people to move and have a fun while doing it.
Take a look at their website for information, locations and dates about their race series. Come see what Color Me Rad 5K is all about right HERE.
