Quite spontaneously, I decided to participate in the Under Armour “What is Beautiful” Campaign. It is a 9 week competition about declaring a goal and getting it done. There are 19 challenges each competitor must complete. The three women who show they have what it takes will become sponsored by Under Armour for a year. The details are laid out right here.
My goal is to run a 3:45 marathon. I feel this is a lofty goal but one I can achieve. This contest was terrifying for me to enter. I took it on mainly because it scares me to put myself out there this much and announce to the world my very personal goals. I feel I must overcome my fear to show other people that they can, too. It is a real longshot that I win, or even make into the top 10, but in my mind I have already won by even attempting and proving that just taking those first steps are the most important. It’s not always about winning but doing your very best at this moment in your life. I am approaching this just like my first marathon, I entered and I’m going to give it everything I’ve got. If I win, or even do well, I would be overjoyed.
I am taking on this big project on top of all of my other responsibilities, but I will make no excuses. The next 9 weeks will be difficult, but I am confident I can do this, with the support of my fellow FFA’s and readers. Many of you have already encouraged me so much. I can sense that no matter the outcome you all have my back. I could not be more grateful. During the next 9 weeks I might ask you for votes, comments, etc. I don’t like to ask for help, so please bear with me and know that I will pay it forward at the first opportunity. Here are a few of the challenges that I have already completed:
