Last week was Spring break for my children, so my family and I went on a three day getaway to Williamsburg, VA. It started me thinking about all of the amazing miles I have put in on vacations in my life time. Running while on the road has so many benefits, from reducing jetlag symptoms to exploring off the beaten track.
I have run all over the world, from Vietnam to Bora Bora. Running has enabled me to see sites I would never see otherwise. It has given me some breathtaking sunrises, allowed me to view indigenous flora and fauna, and lead me to the best local beachside bar. I have run on family reunions, my honeymoon, business trips and girl’s weekend away. Wherever I travel to, the first thing I want to do is go for a run. Regrettably, I have not always had a camera with me. However, here are some of the sights I have been able to capture on more recent trips.
These are just a few places. I wish I could share more of the amazing things that I have seen all because I went out for a run.
It doesn’t matter if it is a weekend getaway or a trip to Europe, running is by far the best way to see the sights and become comfortable with your new surroundings. Running is so much more than a strong, healthy body… it takes you places you would never go otherwise. How about you?
